They are members of various higher ed union around the state of Illinois. They are elected to their positions and they get together several times a year to discuss higher ed issues. Many of the members of the higher ed council have positions on various IEA and NEA committees thereby making sure that the small, but growing, voice of higher ed is heard in both organizations.
