JJ Pionke is headed off to the NEA-RA at the end of the week.  Watch this space for updates from the National Education Association’s Representative Assembly!  This year, it’s being held in New Orleans.  What happens at the NEA-RA?  A lot!  It’s the place where new bylaws are voted on for the NEA, initiatives are developed at the national level, and of course, we vote on the budget at the national level including how much should dues go up.  Remember that the dues you pay aren’t just local, but also state and national.  Each group (local, state, national) has various times and places where they all get together and discuss issues.  At HCAFA, we have a once a semester meeting that is open to all adjuncts, usually it’s something like the Halloween party or the Spring Tea.  All of our members are welcome to come to our Executive Committee meetings as well!   You can find a listing of those meetings on the Calendar (click the calendar tab above).  Want to follow JJ at the NEA-RA a little more closely, follow us on Facebook!  She’ll be updating there with more frequent and small updates about her travel and NEA-RA adventures!  The facebook page is found here:  http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Palatine-IL/HCAFA-Harper-College-Adjunct-Faculty-Association-Fan-Page/111613362189238
